Catskill
has long had a vital industry supplying high-quality building materials

Those historic creekfront buildings now stand vacant waiting for their next re-use Ray’s Appliance, as it has for the past 60 years offers not only the best refrigerators, washers and other appliance necessities, but the service to keep them running. Some of today’s stores have the look of yesteryear. Flossie’s Gold Mine offers dishes, appliances, and local memorabilia from a bygone era. Townhouse Antiques and Verso promote the same theme. Even new merchandise sports the antique look in the lamps at City Lights, tiles at Functional Sculpture, and kitchen and bath cabinetry at N&S Supply. Make no mistake though, updated goods and furnishings also abound within these and other stores in Catskill. Hood & Co. on Main Street carries a range of fascinating modern home items and Catskill Commons on Route 9W north has a Walmart Super Center and Lowe’s while up by Exit 21 of the NYS Thruway you will find Home Depot. Catskill has become a true Mecca for home decorators , remodelers, builders and do-it-yourselfers. You can do it all without leaving your home town. |
