this
building at Wilson Court parking lot once stood a building erected
in 1899 as the home of the Wilson Hose Company. When the hose company
went out of business the Village offices and Citizens Hose Company
#5 occupied the space until a fire destroyed the building in 1935.
Folklore suggests that a fire truck collapsed into the basement during
the fire and today lies below the parking lot. |

Main St. - La Conca D’Oro — The courtyard portion of this restaurant
belonged to Temple Israel, behind which stood the Temple. When the
house of worship burned in 1973, the cornerstone of the Temple was
salvaged for the current building to mark its approximate location.
The courtyard also housed a kosher meat market. |
