Main
and Bronson Streets. — The Saulpaugh Hotel survived until the1970s
on this site, now a parking lot. In the 1870s, named Gunn’s Hotel,
it was known for its filled rooms and excellent meals. In 1887 the
famous banker, J. Pierpont Morgan registered at the hotel. |

Main St. – First Dutch Reformed Church — The church you see now
was built in 1852 at a cost of $12,318. Early in the 19th century
the Dutch formed a strong congregation and begn meeting in the courthouse
on Franklin St. By 1827 enough money had been raised to erect a church
on this site. The building was dedicated on January 7th, 1829. A destructive
fire that burned over 20 buildings consumed the original church in
1851. |

Main St. – A.M. Osborn Hose —A.M. Osborn Hose Co. #2 was organized
on June 7, 1886 to succeed F. J. Silsby Co. The company’s name was
chosen in honor of A. Melvin Osborn who was a NYS Supreme Court Justice
and a prominent resident of Catskill. The present building was erected
in 1904. |
