Main and Bronson Streets. — The Saulpaugh Hotel survived until the1970s on this site, now a parking lot. In the 1870s, named Gunn’s Hotel, it was known for its filled rooms and excellent meals. In 1887 the famous banker, J. Pierpont Morgan registered at the hotel.
310 Main St. – First Dutch Reformed Church — The church you see now was built in 1852 at a cost of $12,318. Early in the 19th century the Dutch formed a strong congregation and begn meeting in the courthouse on Franklin St. By 1827 enough money had been raised to erect a church on this site. The building was dedicated on January 7th, 1829. A destructive fire that burned over 20 buildings consumed the original church in 1851.
323 Main St. – A.M. Osborn Hose —A.M. Osborn Hose Co. #2 was organized on June 7, 1886 to succeed F. J. Silsby Co. The company’s name was chosen in honor of A. Melvin Osborn who was a NYS Supreme Court Justice and a prominent resident of Catskill. The present building was erected in 1904.
