Main St. — The home of Greene County Council on the Arts since
the 1980s. A 200 pound Iron Dog stood sentinel outside this store
for more than 100 years guarding Hill’s Paint Store from 1848 to 1919
and other businesses that later occupied the store. The Iron Dog can
now be seen in the lobby of the First Niagara Bank at 341 Main St. |

Main Street — Believed to have originally been a grocery store,
this early 19th century brick building was the home of The Modern
Bakery, famous for it’s Parker House rolls and rye bread. It later
became Hartmann’s Jewelry and now The Open Studio Art Gallery. The
second floor was the home to the first Catskill Public Library. |

Main at Thompson St. — This building dates back to the 1790’s.
Fred Tolley’s Sporting Goods & Repair shop later became Cimmorelli’s
Sporting Goods and Repair Shop and continued to be the the place”
where many local sportsmen came to sit around the flat top stove and
discuss hunting and fishing and brag about their prowess.” |
